About Australia's Fungi Heaven
Nearly all the 300 initial species showcased in FungiOz app were photographed on the edges of the Great Otway National Park, in Southern Australia.
Its a stunning area that is showcased in the Fungi Oz Calendar and the Great Ocean Road video in the next column.
The northern edge of the park around the township of Forrest is a slice of Fungi Heaven.
After the cessation of logging in the Otways, the Government of Victoria made funds available for the creation of dedicated Mountain bike trails around Forrest. The area now has over 60km of sign posted tracks and is home to the following annual Mountain Bike Events

The park is a popular area for interstate and international tourists, with companies operating tours in the region. It contains three camping areas at Johanna, Aire River and Blanket Bay.
The park is accessed from the east via Apollo Bay, from the north via Forrest or Beech Forest, or from the west via Princetown. covers both coastline and hinterland in the Otway Ranges and so includes both beaches and forest, accessible via walking trails.
The park and the Aire River campground are home to a significant koala population.
The Cape Otway Lighthouse is adjacent to the park and is open to tourists throughout the week.
During the winter, bottlenose dolphins and migrating whales such as the southern right and southern humpback, and can be observed from the coasts. Further west, at Lady Bay in Warrnambool whales
